Kneads Bakery
Daniel and Brittany Moreno opened Kneads Bakery in Westport, CT with a simple ambition: to serve made-from-scratch meals using local ingredients and bake fresh bread daily with flour milled in-house on their own stone mill.

Whole by Nature
After five years of building a loyal local following, Kneads was preparing for its next stage of growth and needed an identity that could grow with it. That idea of clarity became central to our approach. Kneads has always valued education, inviting guests to understand where their food comes from and why their process matters. Yet, their existing logo depicted a windmill, while the flour at Kneads is actually produced using an electric stone mill. Rather than abandon a mark with years of recognition behind it, we looked for an honest representation of the milling process that could preserve something familiar. The answer? The millstone.
Its carved harps naturally echo the blades of the original windmill, allowing us to evolve the existing equity into a simpler, more accurate symbol rooted in the very thing that makes Kneads distinct. From there, we built the identity around the idea of wholeness: whole grain, whole food, whole beings, and the interconnected systems that make each possible. The interwoven symmetry of the new mark reflects that relationship, while a supporting family of elemental icons illustrates the full story of their flour. Circular messaging reinforces ideas of life cycles and interconnectedness, while process-driven photography keeps the food, ingredients, and hands behind Kneads at the center. A restrained typographic system and warm, muted palette give the brand the refinement it needed to grow without making it feel precious, trendy, or removed from the community that shaped it.
The result is a visual identity that gives Kneads more than a new look; it gives them a clearer way to tell their story. Each element works together to communicate the care behind a business that mills its own flour, makes everything from scratch, supports local agriculture, and believes that good food begins with understanding where it comes from. The system preserves the warmth and familiarity Kneads had already earned while giving the brand the consistency and flexibility it needs for whatever comes next.
